First Haircut

Kiptyn had his 1st haircut today! It was more like a trim around the ears--but it still counts as a haircut! He's only 8 months old and already needed a trim! He had LONG hair that we had to tuck behind his ears--now he's all trimmed and looking handsome!

Kieran is a champ at getting his hair cut too! It definitely helps that our hairdresser, Dorothy, has cookies, candy and suckers there for him--not to mention the birthday and Christmas presents that she gives to our boys! She's more like a grandma than a hairdresser!!

A Great Feeling

The sinus surgery was a success--I can breathe openly through my nose--and that is a good thing! The doctor removed the "turbinates" from my nose and he told Chuck that in his 20 years of doing this, the turbinate on my right side was the biggest he's ever seen--it took 24 "bites" to get it out and usually it only takes 4 or 5 "bites" to cut one out. Okay, too much information--but, I had to brag on my turbinate a little bit.

Besides not being able to blow my nose and sleeping in the elevated position--the recovery has been much better than expected! My mom was here to help out with the kids and then she took Kieran home with her for the rest of the week. He's having a great time and I've been able to get lots of work done without my little helper! I have organized closets and a trunk full of stuff for Goodwill--a very good feeling!

Here's What's Happening...

Here's a little update on the fam since I can't seem to find much time to update this lately:

I'm finally having sinus surgery tomorrow. After two months of medicine to clear up infection and swelling--we're ready to get this done and over with! I won't go into too much detail but the doctor is calling the "growths" in my nose (which are actually air pockets on the end of my bone in the side of my nose) "turbinates." Actually middle terbinates since it affects the middle bone in my nose. Last week he looked in the right side of my nose with a telescope and said, "Wow, that is the biggest middle terbinate I have ever seen!" What?! Okay, there are lots of awards I'd like to be awarded in my lifetime--that is not one of them!

Anyway, he'll be cutting the turbinate in half on the right side of the nose and crushing the smaller turbinate in the left side of my nose. Sounds fun, huh?! Oh yeah, he may have to do some work on my septum too. We'll see....

Chuck is starting a new job on May 24th. The contract for his current job is up in July and we knew we were going to be in the job hunt market again soon, so we started praying for a new job for Chuck--and God provided--He's so good at that! Chuck will be driving truck for another divison of UPS on a dedicated route and he'll be home every day so that's an added bonus since it's a driving job. This job will mean less stress for him and less phone calls--you know when you sit down to eat supper and his phone rings or when we're fast asleep in bed and his phone rings at odd hours---no more of that! We are very grateful for this new opportunity for Chuck!

The boys are good and busy. Kiptyn is practicing his rolling over skills and has mastered it quite well! He can go from one end of the room to the other in no time! He hasn't started crawling yet but he's getting really good at scooting backwards--under the chairs, behind the couch etc. He has two teeth--and mommy is very thankful to see them pop through those sore, swollen gums of his! Tylenol and orajel have become our best friends recently!

Kieran is busy--just busy--that is the only way to describe a 3 year old! He's really into the Toy Story movies so we have a lot of talk about Woody and Buzz Lightyear around here! He's really missing the nice weather when he could run and play outside for hours and hours---mommy is really missing that nice weather too!!

So, there you have it--Life is Good, God is Faithful and We Are Blessed!

Now, I'm off to eat some more food before the midnight curse comes before surgery...

Happy Mother's Day!

I guess Mother's Day 2010 is almost over, but I wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to all moms out there, but particularly to my mom:

I remember when I was a young girl and I looked up to older girls around me--thinking I wanted to be like them when I grew up. At that time in my life, I didn't know what life was all about, nor did I really know what a "hero" or a "role model" was.

Now I know--my role model and my hero is my mom!
