Baby Shower

I know I've said this before, but it's worth repeating--We live on a great street with wonderful neighbors! Two of my neighbors hosted a baby shower for me on Wednesday night and it was a fantastic party! Many of the ladies from our street were able to attend and my mom and mother-in-law also traveled here for the shower. It was nice to have an evening with the ladies!

Flowers, gifts and a memory book!

I received many wonderful gifts for our new baby boy! Above are just a couple of pictures out of many! Kieran even received a backpack with a Big Brother shirt in it!

Potty Time?

I'm still in shock about the recent events that have happened at our house--Kieran started using the potty!! We tried the whole potty thing a few weeks ago because he kept peeing in the bath water so we thought we would try the potty before he took a bath--OH NO--he wanted nothing to do with that business! So, I put the potty chair away for awhile.

Kieran pulled the potty chair out of the closet a couple of days ago--nothing new there--but then he told me he wanted to potty. What?! So, I took his diaper off, set him on the potty chair and he went! He's used the potty about 4 times since then--it's a slow process--we're not rushing it--I'm just happy that he doesn't scream when you put him on the potty now!

Our pediatrician recommended waiting until he was 3 years old to start the potty training process--I wasn't too sure about that--but, I knew I wasn't going to start until after this baby comes since I'm pretty sure all of our lives will be disrupted for a bit. But, I guess Kieran had other plans--so, here we go--but, I'm not getting my hopes up too high!

In other news: I saw the high risk doctor yesterday and the baby looked good! He weighs 4 lbs. 3 oz. and his head is very low. The doctor is estimating that if we make it to the scheduled c-section date that the baby will weigh about 7 lbs. 6 oz.

Wichita Wedding Weekend

She's Married! My good friend from high school--Annie--got married this past weekend in Wichita and Chuck and I were able to attend. I was so thrilled to see this dream come true for her! We had a great time catching up with her family and some high school friends too! Kieran spent the weekend with my parents so Chuck and I could both actually sit through a wedding ceremony! Congratulations Annie and Jared!

After the wedding reception was over, Chuck and I drove over to see another high school friend that lives in Wichita--Daphne! We were not able to attend Daphne's wedding in Wichita last year because Kieran got sick so we were glad it worked out this time! We had a great time meeting her family!

Kieran's Great-Grandma Sondra taught him how to pull weeds out of her flower beds--he's practically a pro! I think he only pulled 1 or 2 flowers up?!

Ryleigh's 1st Birthday

My niece Ryleigh celebrated her 1st birthday while we were home this past weekend--it's hard to believe she is 1 year old already! My brother had a slide show going of Ryleigh pictures and it seems like just yesterday she was that itty bitty baby in the hospital! We had a great time celebrating her life with family and friends!

4th of July Weekend

Okay, first of all, I'm feeling much better since my last posting about our trip to the E.R. Second of all, did I really use the word 'diarrhea' in my last posting? Seriously?! I'm laughing about it now, but was shaking my head as I re-read the posting a moment ago. Oh well--I'm pregnant--nothing is off limits--but, I'll spare you any other "bodily function" scenarios :-)

So, now that I've said that--here are some pictures from our 4th of July weekend in Kansas with my family:

I'm too exhausted to write any explanations under the pictures--but you can probably figure it out--good food, great family time and of course--fireworks!

Baby Update and E.R. Visit

Here's a little update on what's been happening in our lives the past week. Last Thursday we saw the high risk doctor and the baby looked great--weighing in at 3 lbs.! Woohoo! On Tuesday of this week I saw my OB and everything was good--and I passed my glucose test! I was super excited to hear this since I had to endure the 3 hour test when I was pregnant with Kieran.

On Tuesday I was also experiencing some cramping with diarrhea and the OB's nurse practitioner said it could be a bug and to push the fluids. I started vomiting at 2 a.m. on Wednesday morning and by that afternoon at 4:00 I was doubled over in pain. I had spent lots of time in the bathroom that day--so much that I probably should have set up camp in there! So, Chuck came home from work and took me to the ER.

My white blood count was elevated and my urine showed serious dehydration so they pumped me full of fluids and gave me some medicine for my nausea. They said it was probably a viral infection that caused all the diarrhea and vomiting. We're pretty sure it is not Crohn's Disease related because it came on so fast. But, because of my Crohn's Disease, my immune system is very weak so when I get a little "bug", it usually turns into something much worse. We finally got home at 11:30 p.m. last night and we owe a HUGE thank you to my friend Mona who stayed with Kieran during that time! We knew he was in good hands!

Chuck took the mobile photo above. I have small veins anyway and when you add dehydration on top of that--it can make it very difficult to get an IV in. After 7 attempts, I finally told the nurse to just put it in my wrist--which is very painful so he was hesitant about doing that. But, he gave me a big, painful poke in the wrist and tada--IV went in! This photo was taken after 1 bag of fluid had been put in and I was on my 2nd bag---feeling much better!
