Thanksgiving Weekend

We were able to spend 4 days at my parents' house over the Thanksgiving weekend! It was so nice to have the extra days together! We slept in, ate a lot, shopped, played the Wii, went to church, ate lunch out, some people (who will remain nameless) stayed up way too late watching movies and we just enjoyed time with family!

My brother and his kids came up on Thursday night and spent the day with us on Friday. Grandma and the grandkids decorated Christmas cookies--we had a big mess but it was fun and well worth it for the memories that were made! Even the dads got in on the fun!

Below are some random pictures from our weekend:

This will most likely be my last post for a few days because the next posting will be typed on my NEW computer!! Chuck took the boys shopping today for my birthday and they surprised me with a much needed brand new computer! Excited!! So, I'm in the process of copying files off the old computer so we can set up the new one--and that's all happening in the midst of a very busy week of prepping and painting baby's room, doctor's appointments, preschool, Chuck working, Christmas preparations and the everyday things of life!

See you soon!

To Share or Not to Share

People ask me occasionally if our boys play well together. The answer is usually "NO!" Yes, they have their moments of sharing and contentment with one another, but mostly they like their own space!

This picture below is a prime example! I was washing the bed sheets on this bed the other day and they LOVE to run their cars and trucks (anything with wheels) on the bed--I often find hot wheels in my bed when I lay down to sleep for the night! It makes me smile!

Anyway, they were fighting over the space and Kieran didn't want Kiptyn to run his cars on "his side" and vice versa. I remember those days with my brother--mostly in the car--keeping your hands on your side of the backseat--and then one of us teases the other by putting a finger over the "line." Then the fighting happened, dad threatened to stop the car--you know how it goes!

I remedied the situation with a blanket--split the bed down the middle--it worked great!:
With all that said, the boys are offically sharing a room now! Good idea? I THINK so?! I went Christmas shopping on Saturday night and Chuck was in charge of the boys and getting them to bed. I came home and he told me they were in bed--in the same room! WHAT?! I'm not ready for this!! Ready for what--I'm not really sure but I'm pretty certain I just needed more time! Time to process, time to prepare myself--whatever. It needed to happen at some point and it's just as well that my husband took care of it while I was gone.

They have done very well together so far. Getting them to fall asleep--or getting Kiptyn to fall asleep has been a challange, but once they are asleep--they dream through the night! They've been waking up together in the morning and I can hear Kieran telling Kiptyn to be quiet as they play together in their room and Kieran kind of tells Kiptyn how this "big boy" room thing works! It's sweet. I hope it's an experience with great things to come for my boys!

Before and After

If you're like me and my house, you have storage closets and drawers that are kind of tucked away, not be seen and filled with stuff! I have a bad habit of just putting stuff in the storage closet and not actually "putting it away" properly! Most of the time, I'm just trying to get something out of my boys' sight so one of them isn't tearing it, crumpling it, throwing it or wanting to play with it--which most likely ends up lost!

As you can see from the picture above, this storage closet, which is under our stairs, is a prime example of what I'm talking about! Lots of things getting shoved in there! It was time to get some organization going on! I'm a bit embarrassed to show you that picture, but it makes me feel much better knowing I can show you this picture too:
Improvement? I think so.

24 Weeks!

We're 24 weeks along in the pregnancy and everything is going well! I saw the high risk doctor this morning for another ultrasound and baby Chloe is looking good! She weighs 1 lb. 9 oz. and she gave us a good look at her face and her hand today--I think she's already so cute!

A Week in Review

Last Monday we had Halloween and then on Tuesday, we dealt with the leaves:

We had to get those leaves taken care of before this happened on Wednesday:

We had a nice, pretty snowfall after some rain and it totally put me in the mood for Christmas music!

On Thursday we started this project:

Chuck and his dad started tearing off our old shingles for new ones

Friday they finished the tear off, got the paper on and started some shingling!

My dad worked at TAMKO Roofing Products from the time I was born until I went to college! So, imagine our delight when our shingles said, "TAMKO-Phillipsburg" on them! I said we're just doing our part to support my hometown--even from far away :-)

We've had guys helping us out with this roofing project and we are so thankful! Chuck's dad is staying here to help out also and we greatly appreciate it! On Saturday, the cousins came over to play while the daddy's roofed:

Hanging out with a tired daddy on Saturday night before bed:

The guys got up early Sunday morning and worked for 2 hours before church. All dressed up and ready to go:

Sunday afternoon Roof:

Wow! What a week! 60 degree weather, snow and now a roofing project in the process!
