Big Boy Room!

I know it's hard to believe--but Kieran will soon be out of the crib and into a "big boy bed"! My mom was here yesterday to help us paint the room and get some furniture for it. Below are some pictures of the progress and the almost completed room: Covering up the 2 RED walls with primer---now when someone comes to visit they can't look at the room and say--with a smile--"Wow--a Husker Room!" I think not!

The paint color turned out just as I pictured it!

New furniture and bedding!

Kieran loves his new bed! He climbs up there to read and play with his choo-choo's and tractors!
We owe so many thanks to a lot of people who helped make this room possible:
Thanks to Jim and Daniel for helping us get the new window in and for Daniel's help with the sheetrock work and the trim work around the window that will be completed soon!
Thanks to all family members that purchased Kieran's new bedding for his birthday!
Thanks to my parents and grandparents for purchasing the bed and dresser for Kieran to use!
Thanks to my mom and Chuck for painting the room and getting everything set up!
Pretty soon we'll start transitioning Kieran into the new bed, but we have plenty of time before he has to completely give up the crib to his baby brother!

Happy Father's Day!

I would like to wish 2 important men in my life a very Happy Father's Day!
To my husband Chuck who is a tremendous daddy to our son Kieran and also a wonderful mate to me! He works hard to provide for us and although he works lots of hours sometimes, he still finds the time to play with Kieran and make me feel special too! I love watching him read books to Kieran or lay on the floor and play choo-choo's and tractors with him--and of course, Kieran uses daddy as a wrestling partner quite often!
We appreciate the sacrifices you have made for us and the commitment you have made to our family--thank you for loving us every day!
We love you!
To my own dad I also want to wish you a very Happy Father's Day! I appreciate the Godly man that you have become and how you display your love for you family by how you treat your wife, kids, son and daughter-in-laws and most of all your grandchildren! We are all blessed to have you in our lives!

Block Party 2009

Ever since we moved into our house last May, the neighbors have been so friendly and helpful! Need a babysitter? Ask a neighbor. Need to borrow something? Ask a neighbor. Need a loan for $2k? Ask---okay, maybe not that one :-) We feel very fortunate to live in our neighborhood with great people and lots of kids for Kieran to play with! We had our annual block party last night--yummy food, good fellowship, smores by the fire and good memories. I finally came home and went to bed at midnight and Chuck followed shortly after at 12:45 a.m.--but the party was still going strong until early this morning!

A few raindrops didn't dampen the party!

On a different note: Kieran has been running a fever since Thursday--the type of fever that is gone and then returns out of the blue. Of course, every time I thought about taking him to the doctor--his fever was normal and he was acting fine. We suspected some molar teeth were coming in and last night he just wasn't himself and he happily went to bed at 8 p.m. So, this morning I took him to an Urgent Care and he has possible tonsilitis! Ugg! So, he is on his 1st antibiotic for 10 days. He should be feeling much better soon!

Connect Four

Kieran has some new playmates for 2 days during the week and he learned how to play Connect Four this week--well, his version of the game anyway! I'm watching 2 of the neighbor kids (ages 7 and 9) during the summer months and they do pretty well to let Kieran play with them---most of the time :-) After they left for the day, Kieran had the game all to himself and he would put a piece in and say, "I did it"! Later I saw him pointing to the circles saying, "4, 5, 6"!

Desperate to go Outside!

Last night we played at the neighbor's house for awhile, came home, gave Kieran a bath and a snack and got him ready for bed. As I was checking my e-mail in the basement, Kieran comes down and gets the blue stool? Hhmmm, better go investigate....
So, here he is in his pajamas, shoes 1/2 way on, standing on the blue stool and trying to get the front door open because he wanted to go "Outside, side"!
