1st Snowman

We took advantage of the 50 degree weather today by spending some time outside. Chuck took the Christmas lights off the house and then Chuck and Kieran built a snowman.--this is the 1st time Kieran has ever played in the snow! We saw some of the neighbors that were outside also--and we actually met the new neighbors next door that moved in last month. The whole street is looking forward to spring when we can come outside again and see everyone! Unfortunately, I don't think this nice weather is going to last too long--after all--it is only January--but we'll take any nice day we can get!

Sick Little Boy

Early Sunday morning I could hear over the baby monitor that Kieran's breathing sounded a little "raspy" and sure enough, when he got up he had a fever and a bad, barking cough. So, we stayed home from church and Kieran took naps, played and ate like he was feeling fine!

Sunday night Kieran was up every hour fussing and not feeling well. At 3:00 a.m. his fever was 101.3 (that was taken under his arm and the digits only made it that far before he wouldn't allow me to hold his arm down any longer--note to self---get new batteries for the ear thermometer!). Needless to say, come Monday morning all of us were very tired and his nose started running like a faucet!

I called the pediatrician's office and got an appt. for 2:30 and Kieran fell asleep 5 minutes before we got to the doctor's office--of course! The doctor confirmed that Kieran has the croup/really bad cold. He said the worst would last 3 days and he gave us a prescription to fill if he had another bad night like he had the night before.

Thankfully, he slept well last night--only waking up once when his fever broke-but his nose is still in a constant flow. He hates it when I use the bulb syringe thing to clean it out and he doesn't like the nose drops either--he'll move his head right before I'm ready to squeeze them in his nose--and the drops end up in his hair!

When Kieran sees you coming at him with a kleenex, he immediately wipes his nose with his hands, on the couch, or on the chair--whatever happens to be closest at the time! Chuck thought that was hilarious when I told him that--I'm sure he wouldn't think it was so funny if it was his shirt that Kieran was using as a kleenex!

So, now I'm off to spray some lysol, do some laundry and hopefully get rid of these germs so it doesn't get passed onto anyone else!

Lean-Mean Cleaning Machines

My husband is very talented at lots of things and pushing a vacuum is one of his best talents! :-) Here is Kieran helping daddy do some cleaning with his new dirt devil that he got for Christmas:

Playdate with Emily!

On Friday, Kieran and I had a playdate with Michelle and Emily at their house. Michelle and I enjoyed looking at scrapbooks and picture books we have done and the kids played well together. Kieran did knock Emily in the head with a toy once, but after that, all was well!
Eating some lunch!

Emily has baby dolls at her house!

Playing with the Weebles treehouse

Thanks Michelle and Emily for a great time at your place!

Hiding Place

The following pictures show what happens when I say things like this to Kieran:

"It's time to take a nap"

"Let's go change your diaper"

"Put your coat on so we can go bye-bye"

He runs into the playroom and literally dives under the picnic table! But, mommy can still pull him out!

Kleenex anyone?

This morning Kieran and I were in the basement and I was working on the computer, balancing the checkbook etc. Kieran kept going upstairs and then coming back down. At one point, he went upstairs and didn't come back down--so I went up to investigate.....

Kieran was in the extra bathroom taking 1 kleenex out of the box at a time, "wiping" his nose with it, crumpling it up and then throwing it in the trashcan! So, now we only have 1/2 a box of kleenex's left and a trashcan full of "used" kleenex's! All I can say is, "Kids--gotta love em!"

Lil' Cowboy

Pictured below is our little man in his new shirt he received for Christmas, Wrangler jeans and his cowboy boots (handed down from cousin Alex). He has the horse, but we're missing the cowboy hat--but he probably wouldn't keep it on if he had one anyway!

He looks so grown up in this picture!

Lazy Days of Winter

Life has slowed down a bit since the holidays have passed, hence the reason I have not updated this blog in a week! I keep waiting for Kieran to do something spectacular--like a cartwheel--but he's just too busy playing with all the new toys! Chuck's sister Lavender came out to visit this weekend, it took awhile for Kieran to warm up to her, but he did:

Does the above photo show you how lazy we were on Sunday?! Besides getting up to eat, shower and go to church, we were bums the rest of the day! We stayed in the basement, snuggled up under blankets to read books/magazines, nap or watch movies. We even endured the Thomas the Tank movie that Kieran received--although I know we all napped a bit during that one! Now when we go to put a movie in the DVD player, Kieran says "choo-choo floofy?"

Seems Family Christmas (in January!)

We traveled out to Elm Creek, NE this past weekend to celebrate Christmas with my family--and it was a wonderful weekend! Some of my mom's family and my dad's family came up on Saturday to see us also--so we got to visit with lots of family--which was great! We opened gifts on Saturday morning and then we played Whoonu on Saturday night--very fun game! On Sunday we stopped by to visit my friend Julie on the way home and I got to hold her baby boy Aaron--only about 4 weeks old--he was so precious!

Needless to say, the car was PACKED on the way back home because of all the great gifts, but we had a great time and we look forward to doing it again soon. We feel very blessed by all of our family! Thanks everyone for the visits and the gifts!
The kids get to open 1 gift the night before--here is Kieran opening his to play with.

Kieran received a rocking horse from Uncle Steven and Aunt Chalina!

Big John Deere Tractor!

He was very busy with his new vacumn cleaner!
