Construction Detour: Birthday Party #2

We celebrated Kieran's 3rd Birthday--Again--with Chuck's family and some of our neighbors on Saturday. His Aunt Rachel made him a Construction Truck Cake and he got lots of fun gifts, including a new slide from mommy and daddy! Here are some pictures:

A Day Full of Thomas!

Kieran had a day full of Thomas surprises! He got up, ate breakfast and then we put one of this Thomas shirts on him so he could wear it to the "Day out with Thomas" event that I was planning on taking him to at Toys R Us. But, before we headed out for the toy store, the mail came....

My friend Kari sent Kieran a birthday package and inside was--Thomas!! He was so excited to receive Thomas tracks, trains--that move on their own with batteries--and Thomas books! Thanks, Kari for helping make his day so special!!

I must admit that I was a bit nervous about taking both of the boys to Toys R Us by myself--I had these "worst case scenarios" going through my head--you know, Kiptyn would be crying and fussy while Kieran is not listening to mommy and running all over the store! But, the day went great--Kieran was well-behaved and our outing was a success! Kieran received some free Thomas stuff--including a wooden train--he picked Percy, of course!

Under Construction: 3rd Birthday Party!

Kieran will be 3 years old in a few days, so we had a birthday party for him while we were in Kansas celebrating Easter with my family. We did a Construction Theme and he didn't want to eat the cake, he just wanted to play in it--and that is what he did! He said the cake "has mud on it!" He received lots of outside toys and we've already put them to good use--the weather has been perfect for being outside! Here's a few photos from his party:

We'll also be celebrating Kieran's birthday in a couple of weeks with his friends and cousins here in the Omaha area--yep, it's the birthday that never ends---every kid's dream!!! So, stay tuned for those pictures--hopefully the weather is nice enough that the kids can play with all the new toys outside--including Kieran's BIG gift from mommy and daddy....

Kiptyn's First Easter

What a joy for Kiptyn to experience his First Easter! What an even greater joy it will be when he is old enough to understand the true meaning of Easter and why we celebrate! This year, he was just content to chew on the plastic eggs :-) Here are some photos of our Easter celebration with my family in Kansas:

What a Day

You've heard the saying, "Kids say the darndest things?" Well, that is so true at our house with Kieran--everyday seems to bring a new phrase that makes us realize how much he is growing up and learning! A few examples from today:

We were eating lunch, Chuck and I had finished and we reminded Kieran to finish his lunch. In all seriousness, Kieran says, "I'm workin on it!" Then he promptly stuffs that last few bites into his mouth. Chuck and I just look at each other with a little chuckle and shake our heads.

Now we'll fast forward to bedtime, but 1st a little background. Kiptyn awoke at 3:00 a.m. with the stomach flu so it has been a day of cleaning up messes and trying to keep a sick baby content and happy. Kiptyn falls asleep and we put Kieran to bed at his usual time and this is followed by numerous excuses to get out of bed--needing a drink, needing to go potty etc.

I finally lay my head down around 11:00 p.m.--knowing I better get some sleep before Kiptyn wakes up to eat--since he's only able to eat small amounts of formula at a time to keep his tummy happy. Well, needless to say, the next 3 hours are spent getting up with KIERAN and not Kiptyn! Someone gave this kid too much sugar, caffeine or something before bed because he was wired! Either I was making a trip to his room to calm him down or he's standing by my bed waking me up. Around 2:00 a.m. I put Kieran back to bed for the 4th or 5th time--I lost count--and guess what? Kiptyn's awake! :-)

I'm in the kitchen making Kiptyn a bottle, turn around and there stands Kieran--with a big smile on his face! I say, "What are you doing." Again, in all seriousness, he puts out his hands and says, "I had to see what was going on!" Something tells me he wasn't too concerned with his baby brother at the time! So, I let Kieran stay awake while I fed Kiptyn and I will say that being up at 2:00 a.m. with a sick baby and having an almost 3 year old entertain you with stories (with animation) can bring a smile to your face!

So, here it is 3:00 a.m. and I'm wide awake--thanks in part to my boys--but also due to prednisone (yuck, ick, nasty, ugg) medication I am taking. Yep, the sinuses are still too swollen and infected for surgery so I'm on more antibiotics, prednisone and nasal spray for 30 more days. So, instead of laying awake in bed--I'm blogging--and aren't you glad?

We spent last weekend with my family in Kansas to celebrate Easter and Kieran's 3rd Birthday--I plan on posting pictures soon of those events--but, in the meantime, here's a couple to tide you over:
